President of Argentina visits Belgrano drinking water treatment plant
On Saturday, the General Belgrano drinking water treatment plant located in the municipality of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, was visited by the President of the Republic of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, in the company of the Mayor of the municipality, Mayra Mendoza, and the President of AySA, Malena Galmarini.
The General Belgrano drinking water treatment plant expansion project - a plant that was built by Tedagua jointly with Constructora San José as part of a consortium - involves increasing the total yield by 1,000,000 cubic meters per day, thereby raising the plant's capacity from today's 1,950,000 m3/day to 2,950,000 m³/day. This increase will benefit a population of almost four million who live in the municipalities of Quilmes, Lanús, Avellaneda, Lomas de Zamora, Esteban Echeverría, Almirante Brown, part of La Matanza and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
The plant's works will modify the current water treatment system, replacing it by another one that is mainly composed of several desanding and degreasing, flocculation and settling modules to achieve the goal of increasing the total yield.
This visit takes place after the October 15 visit by Sergio Díaz-Granados, Executive President of CAF – Development Bank of Latin America –, in the company of the President of AySA, Malena Galmarini. Both of them highlighted the importance of bestowing the Province of Buenos Aires with an essential resource such as quality water, which will positively affect the well-being of the population, and to extend the development of these infrastructures to the entire Republic of Argentina.
