Tedagua enters into a contract for the construction of the East Bay drinking water treatment plant in the Philippines
A consortium composed of Tedagua and the First Balfour construction company was awarded a 55 million contract in December, 2020 for the design and construction of the Easy Bay drinking water treatment plant - a call for bids made by Manila Water Company Inc., the exclusive provider of drinking water and wastewater services for over six million people in the east region of Manila and the Province of Rizal. However, works have not been able to begin until these last few days, after having addressed the administrative prerequisites.
The contract involves the design and construction of a drinking water treatment plant located in the area of Lake Pakil, due east of Manila, with a production capacity of 50,000 cubic meters per day. The plant is outfitted with ozonation, dissolved air flotation and two-stage filtering, with the peculiarity that it also has a reverse osmosis system for seasons when the lake has a high salinity. Once commissioned, a period of one year of operation and maintenance will begin, during which local personnel is to be trained to guarantee an adequate operation of the facility in the future.
This project will help reinforce and mitigate the current drinking water shortage experienced by the inhabitants of Manila, whose metropolitan area has one of the highest population densities in the world.
With the awarding of this project, Tedagua continues its activities in the Asian market, where it recently inaugurated the Tuas Desalination Plant III in Singapore and the supply facilities of the Mirpur region, in Dhaka (Bangladesh).
