TEDAGUA is to build a pig slurry treatment plant in Valderrobres (Teruel)

This plant is in addition to the one already built by Tedagua which has been operating for several months in Peñarroya de Tastavins, also in the province of Teruel. It is part of the Life Es-Wamar European project for sustainable slurry management which is developing pioneer activities in three areas of Aragón, following the growth in intensive pig-farming in this region.

Its purpose is to prevent and reduce diffuse contamination by improving the quality and ecological conditions of the water, within the framework of the National Water Quality Plan. The plant will be financed by the Aragonese Water Institute for the amount of 4,920,234 euro between 2009 and 2011.

The plant will combine slurry treatment with the production of biogas. It will have a production capacity of 120,000 cubic meters a year, and it is estimated that once the plant is in operation, it will obtain a reduction of 91,560 equivalent tons of carbon dioxide a year.
