The Taif wastewater treatment plant has been awarded the 'Best Water Treatment Project' at the 2023 MEED (Middle East Economic Digest) Awards, presented on November 28, 2023
  • The recognition highlights the successful collaboration of Tedagua as the leader of the consortium responsible for the design and construction of an innovative plant with a production capacity of 100,000 m³/day. This plant provides an ultra-compact and intelligent solution for the treatment of industrial and municipal wastewater.
  • This project is the first concession-based purification initiative in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve commercial operational status. Additionally, it aligns with the local Ministry of Environment's 'Green Initiative.'

The plant, located in Taif, Saudi Arabia, stands out as the first purification project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, Transfer) scheme to reach the operational phase without construction delays, thanks to the determined collaboration of all involved parties.

With a production capacity of 100,000 m³/day (expandable to 270,000 m³/day), the complex positions itself as a regional benchmark in tertiary wastewater treatment and the reuse of sludge through advanced technologies.

A distinctive aspect of the project is its contribution to the 'Green Initiative' of the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. The project has a positive environmental impact by irrigating over 10,000 trees around the plant. Additionally, the treated sludge, dried to over 90% for various purposes, is processed using a solar dryer, thereby contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions through renewable sources.

At Tedagua, we are very proud to receive this recognition and to be part of a leading project in the region, committed to generating quality water resources to meet all needs.
