La Palma portable desalination plants (Phase 1)

The eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano paralyzed the water supply for irrigation of the 600 ha of crops in the Los Llanos de Aridane area. The two portable plants that make up this project were put into operation in only 17 days, when the usual installation and start-up period is 5-6 months. Both plants have a production capacity of 5,600 m3/day through reverse osmosis.

The execution of this project has guaranteed the supply of water for irrigation in the affected area, with special benefit for the banana industry, and minimizing the water supply problems caused by the volcano.
