Project Characteristics
Reuse of congenital waters in the Puerto Gaitán oil field
With a production of 79,500 m3/day (500,000 barrels/day), the raw water that comes directly from the oil production will be treated via reverse osmosis, later being used for agricultural and forest irrigation. This is an important environmental project since, in this way, the costly process of re-injecting that water into the subsoil is avoided. The process basically consists of a pretreatment phase using several filtration systems before applying a high recovery (90%) reverse osmosis process, as well as a sludge removal process, which yield completely suitable water from an environmental perspective.
