Project Characteristics
Richmond Road Water Treatment Plant
These works consisted of a new filtration plant with a treatment capacity of 25 MGD (million gallons per day), 94,625 m3/day, replacing the old installations originally built in 1924 and their upgrades in 1937, 1938 and 1953. The project included a new building where conventional multilayer sand and activated carbon filters were installed, with compressed air washing systems and backwash pumps. New disinfectant and reagent dosing lines were also installed. The related civil works, the distribution and emergency power installations, the associated instrumentation & control and HVAC were the same as those commonly used for this type of plant. The entire project was executed without interrupting the service and within the boundaries of the existing parcels.
