Project Characteristics
Salto de Chira desalination plant
The project is part of Salto de Chira reversible hydroelectric complex, the scope of which includes the design, construction and commissioning of the desalination plant. Located in the south of the island of Gran Canaria, it consists of a seawater desalination plant (WWTP) with a production capacity of 7,800 cubic meters per day, as well as the construction of the intake tank with an underwater immisary, which will be responsible for collecting the water and pumping it through a pumping system to the WWTP.
This desalination plant will help to produce the fresh water necessary for the operation of the reversible hydroelectric power plant, which will ensure a greater integration of renewable energy on the island of Gran Canaria, guaranteeing the security and quality of the electricity supply.
