TEDAGUA is to build new drinking water plants for the regions of Agnita and Dumbrăveni (Romania)
The company APA TARNAVEI MARI SA, regional operator for water and wastewater for the north-eastern part of the province of Sibiu, has awarded TEDAGUA the "Water wells, treatment plants and adduction pipelines of Agnita and Dumbrăveni" works contract for a price of 29,847,702 leis (some 7.1 million euro), of which 85% has been put up by the European Union, through the Cohesion Funds. The contract term will be 42 months, of which 30 months are assigned to the design and execution work and 12 months to start-up and operating tests on the facilities.
For the region of Dumbrăveni, the contract includes the rehabilitation of eight wells and the replacement of an adduction pipeline between the wells of the Dumbrăveni drinking water treatment plant to obtain an average flow rate of 120 cubic m/hour, with a new system for eliminating excess iron and manganese.
For the region of Agnita, a new drinking water treatment plant will be built with an average flow rate of 270 cubic m/hour on the site of the old Arpăsel plant, which will include advanced water treatment processes. Likewise, the adduction pipeline between the treatment plant and the tank of Agnita will be rehabilitated and extended, with a length of approximately 36km.
From the operations standpoint, the implementation of this contract will bring about an improvement in the water treatment process and an improvement in the quality and effectiveness of the treatment services for optimising the capacity and performance of the facilities. In terms of benefits for the population, the advantage lies in providing drinking water whose quality and quantity compiles with EU standards for the inhabitants of Agnita and Dumbrăveni, with a direct impact on improving the quality of life and the health of the population in the areas served.
The contract was awarded through a public open tender process, with the consultant supervising the works being C. & S. Di Giuseppe Ingegneri Associati S.R.L. from Palombaro, Italy.
