The Beni Saf desalination plant now supplies drinking water to the city of Oran
The Beni Saf desalination plant in Algeria, built by the consortium GEIDA, in which TEDAGUA holds a stake of 33%, has successfully passed the operating tests and is now supplying drinking water to the town of Beni Saf and the area surrounding it.
With a production of 200,000 cubic meters day, Beni Saf is the third-largest sea water desalination plant operating worldwide in terms of production capacity. The investment made to date is 175 million dollars, but the second phase of the contract commences now, consisting of an operation term of 25 years, which will represent earnings of approximately another 250 million dollars.
The Beni Saf Project is an opportunity for the region in terms of employment and economic development. During the construction phase, it provided jobs for almost 700 people full time, and once the plant is operating, it will have a permanent workforce of almost 30 direct employees and more than one hundred indirect employees, thereby having a positive impact on the local economy.
