AQUAHUB advances towards the validation of innovative technologies for wastewater treatment in collaboration with Canal de Isabel II

AWAES, Tedagua's innovation company specializing in advanced solutions for the integrated water and energy cycle, has signed a collaboration agreement with Canal de Isabel II within the framework of AQUAHUB, an R&D&I project aimed at developing and validating innovative technologies to achieve more efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment aligned with the principles of the circular economy.

This agreement represents a new milestone for AQUAHUB, as it will allow the project to progress from the research and development phase to the validation of technologies under representative operating conditions through the use of real wastewater streams. Collaboration with Canal de Isabel II will facilitate the collection of key data on process performance and stability, reclaimed water quality, resource recovery, energy consumption, and operating costs, all of which are essential factors for future industrial-scale implementation.

Led by AWAES, Tedagua's innovation company, AQUAHUB is developing an integrated and modular pilot platform that combines different technologies to optimize the treatment and valorization of streams generated at wastewater treatment plants. Its main areas of work include the production of biogas and biomethane, the recovery of nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, advanced water reclamation, the removal of emerging contaminants, the valorization of sludge and other organic waste, as well as the digitalization and intelligent optimization of treatment processes.

The project also brings together a strong consortium comprising Fertiberia Corporate, INCRO, Pyrocatalytica, Quantia Ingeniería y Consultoría, and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), all of which collaborate in the development of technological solutions designed to promote more sustainable management of water and energy resources.

Through this milestone, Tedagua, via AWAES, reinforces its commitment to applied innovation and accelerates the transition of research outcomes into real operating environments, contributing to the development of technologies that promote sustainability, water resilience, and the circular economy within the water sector.
