The Madrid City Council, through the Department of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility led by Borja Carabante, and joined by José Antonio Martínez Páramo, Deputy Councillor for Cleaning and Green Areas, and Andrea Levy, Councillor for the Retiro District, has inaugurated the Sicilian monumental Nativity scene from the Basanta-Martín collection at Montaña de los Gatos, along with a festive botanical installation on Paseo de México in the Buen Retiro gardens to mark the holiday season.

The event was also attended by Javier Hidalgo, CEO of Tedagua, which manages and maintains the park in collaboration with PreZero and Gyocivil, ensuring the preservation and quality of its facilities.

The decorative ensemble will remain on display until January 8 and has been conceived as a visually striking space that blends nature, design, and technology to deliver a unique experience for residents and visitors alike.

Its centerpiece is a large-format sign featuring the park’s name, crafted from wooden blocks and adorned with natural plant species such as firs, thujas, and eucalyptus, complemented by synthetic coverings for durability. Each letter incorporates integrated lighting, allowing visitors to enjoy the display both day and night. A neon sign with the hashtag #NavidadEnElRetiro invites guests to share their photos on social media.

The installation is further enhanced with decorative elements including three-dimensional stars and fir trees at its edges, making it one of the most Instagrammable spots in the city this festive season.
