First intake pipe of the Duqm (Oman) Power and Desalination Plant integrated project built by Tedagua successfully submerged

Manufacturing of the DN2500 HDPE intake pipe and DN2000 outfall pipe started at the Duqm (Oman) Power and Desalination Plant integrated project in October of last year, which are part of the marine works of the project built by Tedagua.

The open sea trench preliminary works begun in mid-January of this year with 2 backhoe dredgers equipped with a dipper and hydro hammer. The entire fleet consists of 2 dredgers, a tugboat, a 1800m3 hopper barge, a multicat and a bathymetry vessel.

The first four pipe sections that will make up section 4 out of a total of 9 were placed in March. These parts of section 4 have a length of 234m each and are held in place by 39 24-ton concrete blocks.

Dredging has come with complications due to the shallow depth and strong winds in the direction of the coastline, in addition to the presence of very hard rocks. The first 400m trench had been completed by April, with 145,000m3 of material having been dredged.

On May 4 we towed the first DN2500 intake pipe, which was successfully submerged. Throughout May, the three remaining pipes of section 4 will be installed.
